It cannot be emphasized enough how important the early socialization is for such a smart human and work focused breed like mudi. Many times people do not understand what is the trouble with not taking away a puppy from the breeder when he is 8 weeks old, and why should it be a problem if you just do not have time to deal with your puppy when he is 3-4 months old. Though there is a problem because early socialization period will not return. This is a sensitive period during which if exposed to sufficient stimulus, playful new situations –never frightening, just being natural-, then as adult they will be open, happy dogs, not anxious, uncertain or “always barking” ones. Of cause it should not be started on the 1st day, but let’s say at the end of the 1st week. Genetics is important, but the best dog also can get worse, if nobody has time for him, if there is a lack of trust or even when the owner is overprotecting (although nobody heard about dogs getting serious infections because of early socialisation). So take away your bad beliefs and use your confidence. The Mudi is not a dog hanging on a leash, stupidly, but they are the most loyal companions!
If we never forget this, we must be on the good path. That is why I start my website with this. And please watch the video - clicking here |
